After Kik send out the news that they’re in it for the long run, people were quite relieved. Kik is a messaging app that has been around for 10 years now. About halfway through 2019, however, there was speculation about the app quitting. However, Medialab (also known for apps like Whisper) bought the messenger and is planning on continuing the app indefinitely. While they have big plans for the app, there are a few old and new features you should get to know before continuing your online journey using this messaging platform!

Communicate with a Crisis Text Line

While not the happiest news, Kik has created a texting opportunity with various crisis lines so that teens, or anyone else in need of help, can easily chat with a helpline worker without the need to call or search the web for a specific address. Not only does this make seeking help safer, but it’s also more accessible.

Get Creative with Bots

There are various in-app bots on Kik with which you can chat. However, some bots have special features, like editing photos for you, or playing an online game with you. There is no need to be bored when you’ve got plenty of bots to chat with when your friends are asleep.

Kik Codes to Connect with People

When you’re new to Kik, you will need at least a few people to chat with to make it a worthwhile app. With Kik Codes, you can instantly connect with another person. All you need to do is scan their code, and their contact will be automatically added to your application! It’s easy and quick.

However, you can also add people to your friend-list by entering their Kik usernames in the search bar. Then, you click their profile picture and send them a message. It’s as simple as that!

Stickers to Share Your Feelings

Sometimes words simply don’t do the trick. When that’s the case, you can easily use one of the many stickers offered by Kik to convey your feelings. Perhaps the photo of the puppy your friend send you is just too cute for words, or you want to show your grandma how mouth-watering that chocolate cake is that she made.

With plenty of stickers, you can say whatever you need to say without ever having to use any words!

Group Chats to Talk to Your Entire Family

In many cases, someone’s family is big. Perhaps you’ve got an aunt somewhere in Australia, while your niece from your mom’s side lives in Sweden. Calling and emailing either costs a lot of money or is too slow to properly communicate. Kik allows big groups of people to form a group chat in which everyone can talk to each other for free. All you need is an internet connection and a fun group to add. Enjoy!
